Open Sky Health was formed in conjunction with the UAB Harbert Institute for Innovation and Entrepreneurship to bring to market numerous enhancements to the Cerner EMR platform via Clinical Process Improvement (CPI) composite applications.
The goals of the CPI applications are to improve medical outcomes, reduce costs,and make the daily work of physicians and staff easier and more efficient.
Several use cases will be highlighted such as:
"Physicians viewing key patient information more efficiently which improves physician satisfaction and helps to avoid HACs" and
"Nursing staff having the ability to request and release critical medical devices such as infusion pumps"

Regional User Groups (RUGs) are client-driven communities by geography that provide knowledge sharing around implementation and use of Cerner applications, as well as networking opportunities. The RUG community provides a venue to share and learn about enterprise-wide topics such as architecture, technology, and new Cerner initiatives. The NARUG is comprised of Cerner clients from the following states: Connecticut, Delaware, Massachusetts, Maryland, Maine, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont, Virginia, Washington DC, and West Virginia.
